Kerry graduated with a BBA in Finance from the University of Texas in 1986 and received his J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law in 1990. He served a judicial clerkship with the U.S.Bankruptcy Court in Dallas from 1990 to 1992. After his clerkship, Kerry practiced law with and was a director at Hill Gillstrap in Arlington from 1992 to 2001. In 2001, Kerry and his family came home to Amarillo, and he became Corporate General Counsel for several family-owned businesses including AMATechTel, Attebury Grain, and Rockrose Development. Kerry returned to private practice in 2007. He is a member of Amarillo Area Bar Association and State Bar of Texas, and continually receives an Excellent Peer Review Rating. Kerry currently serves on the board of Texas Panhandle Builders Association (as counsel) and Amarillo Meals-on-Wheels.  He also served in the past as President of the Amarillo Flames Athletic Association and as President of Lone Star Ballet Board of Directors.  Kerry and his wife enjoy filling their time as empty nesters by serving in their church and making trips to Colorado to hike as often as they can. He also enjoys competing in racquetball tournaments – hoping to hold off the switch to the less-taxing sport of pickleball for a few more years.
